This will be a three-day event,
November 17-19, 2005 in which
istinguished American Deaf theatre artists, including the internationally
known Russian deaf theatre company, Nedoslov, showcase their work
alongside that of regional community groups, and interact with Deaf and
hearing children and adults of the greater Boston area by means of
performances in American Sign Language (ASL), workshops, and panel
discussions.
Congratulations to Mary Christopher as the logo contest winner and to
Annette Posell as the theme winner!
The Festival will be held at ACT Roxbury's newly renovated Hibernian
Hall in Dudley Square nearby Northeastern University. Hibernian
Hall is a historic building
located two blocks from the Dudley Square MBTA bus. Built in 1913 by the Ancient
Order of Hibernians as a center for Irish cultural, social, and charitable
activities, the building featured one of the largest dance floors
in Boston and was a favorite
place for dances, bridal showers, receptions and fundraisers. Now fully restored,
the carefully preserved building will again serve the community as Roxbury
Center for the Arts at Hibernian Hall, a center for cultural
activity and is an ideal
location for Boston to host its first Deaf Theatre Festival.
Tickets will be
sold at Combo ($55), Senior Citizen/Student ($45), and Children’s prices
(n/a). Tickets will not be sold at the door.
